plastic pollution training

This plastic pollution training helps companies identify the sources of plastic waste in their operations, understand their impact on ecosystems, and explore sustainable alternatives. It supports a broader awareness initiative and fosters the concrete transformation of business practices.

Qualiopi Certification and OPCO Funding

Certified Training Provider for Plastic Pollution

Act! with Surfrider is a Qualiopi-certified training organization under the “training action” category, ensuring the pedagogical quality and rigor of its modules. The plastic pollution training relies on scientifically validated content and interactive tools such as the Plastic Pollution Fresk. This approach fosters understanding of key issues related to plastic waste, single-use plastics, microplastics, and marine pollution. It is part of a broader corporate awareness initiative focused on plastic reduction and the adoption of sustainable solutions.

OPCO Funding for SMEs

The plastic pollution training is eligible for funding by French Skills Operators (OPCOs), particularly for companies with fewer than 250 employees. This funding depends on the integration of the training into a formal skills development plan and compliance with legal obligations. It makes it easier for businesses to access content aligned with plastic regulations, prevention strategies, recycling practices, plastic reduction, and responsible production.

Plastic Pollution Training in 3 key steps

1. Analyze the Impact of Plastics

The training begins by exploring the environmental, health, and economic consequences of plastics, including microplastics. Participants follow the journey of plastics—from production to their spread in natural environments—based on field data from Surfrider Foundation Europe.
The Plastic Pollution Fresk, developed by Surfrider, is the core tool in this phase. It helps visualize major pollution pathways, impacts on marine biodiversity, and the limits of recycling. This systemic approach is essential for anchoring the issues within the company’s specific context.

2. Identify Levers for Plastic Reduction

The afternoon focuses on co-developing concrete solutions tailored to your business practices. Based on insights from the Fresk, teams design a plastic reduction plan while factoring in sector-specific constraints.
The Solutions Workshop explores available levers: eliminating single-use plastics, reuse, bio-based alternatives, eco-design, responsible procurement, and more. These solutions are part of a broader circular economy logic, aligned with other CSR initiatives.

3. Build an Actionable Plastic Reduction Plan

The final step is to formalize a depollution strategy through two deliverables: an individual action plan and a collective plan for the organization. Each group defines goals, KPIs, and a timeline for implementation.
These outputs can be integrated into your broader CSR strategy, ensuring long-term impact beyond the training. They also provide material for stakeholder engagement and ESG, CSRD, or internal climate reporting efforts.
